#35 Crutchlow – (3rd – 1’40.045)
“I felt really good, it’s nice to have Honda in 1-2-3 today. It’s a shame about Marc (Marquez) but I’m sure he’s got the pace to be in there, if not faster, as well. We had a positive session, I was trying a lot of things for Honda today so I wasn’t really looking at the lap time or result too much and I got held up when I did start to push a bit.
But we’re positive, I didn’t try too many settings as we were testing other stuff, so I’m confident we can go faster. Honda and my team are working very hard and we’re looking forward to trying more things tomorrow."
#35 Cal Crutchlow – 3rd (1’38.453)
“It was a very good today. Obviously we’re pleased with the Honda lock out of the front row, it’s good for Honda and my team. We did a good job today, now we have to try and continue that tomorrow.
“It’s been a busy weekend for me, testing things for Honda, but we are trying our best – both me as a rider and the team. Now we have to look forward to the race tomorrow and see what we can improve tonight. Then we’ll see what we can do in the warm up and race.
“I didn’t really know what was happening, but it (the wasp) started to sting me many times on my arm so I had to stop! If it was a race, of course I wouldn’t stop, but in these conditions I had to stop immediately to try and get it out.”
#35 Cal Crutchlow – DNF
“I’m obviously very disappointed with today’s result. I felt strong in the race and felt like I was managing the situation and the tyre very well. I was close to Marc (Marquez) and we had good pace. But, unfortunately, on lap six I went into turn 11 carrying good corner speed - just as I had done the lap before – but when I went to open the throttle the front tyre closed.
“It was a mistake, but we have to keep the confidence we’ve built up for the next round in Le Mans which I think will be better for us. Today I had a missed opportunity of a podium and I’m disappointed for myself and my team, but we have to regroup and discuss some things with Honda before the next race.”
